Spaceport 9 is a recurring location in the Space Channel 5 series. It's a site on Earth where spaceships dock. Through Ulala's exploits, there are several points of interest known at the port. These are mainly where the aliens during the Morolian invasion forced people to dance.
Space Channel 5
Spaceport 9 first appears as the first level from the game in the first report, where the location has been invaded by Morolians and Ulala goes there to investigate the case.
Main Floor
The first section happens on the main floor where Ulala fights many Morolians by dancing and shooting.
Flight Control Tower
The Flight Control Tower is where the second section of the level happens, though, only in the normal report, the Tower is at the center of Spaceport 9. When the Morolians attacked, the Space Rescue Police were summoned to help the workers who were there. Unfortunately, that plan didn't go quite as well as they had hoped.
Second Floor
When playing the extra mode of the report 1, Ulala will go to the second floor instead of the the Flight Control Tower, the second floor lobby isn't as bustling as the main lobby, but that doesn't mean it's slouching in the invasion department. Many civilians were hypnotized here, and near the end of Ulala's segment on her report show, an explosion by missile sent her flying.
The Luggage Room
The Luggage Room is a secret area only accessible in the Extra mode of report 1, if the view ratings are between 80 to 89% at the end of the first section of the report (that is the main floor section) Ulala will go to the Luggage Room rather than the second floor, the room has many translucent tubes surrounded by neon rings through which baggage is transported. How space dogs wound up getting out of their carriers is anyone's guess.
The Launch Pad
The Launch Pad is where the first hypnotized robot of the Morolian invasion, Coco Tapioca, landed. Large spotlights are placed at the pad to assist ships in landing, or to light up robots in an emergency.
Space Channel 5 VR: Kinda Funky News Flash!
Spaceport 9 returns to the VR game, Space Channel 5 VR: Kinda Funky News Flash! where it's being attacked by the Morolians once again, this time there's only one section which happens at the main floor, Ulala and the twins, Lou and Kee, must first save the hostages by defeating the Morolians in a dance battle, then shoot at the aliens and lastly, battle another Coco★Tapioca.
Other appearances
Spaceport 9 makes a small appearance in Sonic Riders during the SEGA Illusion circuit, where many giant Morolians statues appear as obstacles shooting at the players.
Spaceport 9 appears in Sega Superstar Tennis as a Tennis court representing the Space Channel 5 series, the tennis court looks similar to both the second floor and the launch pad with neon lights similar to the ones found in the Luggage Room, the tennis court is reused in the Chuchu Rocket! minigame.
