Roo & Kie, also known as Lou & Kee and Rookie Reporters, are twin, rookie news reporters who were recently recruited for Space Channel 5 and the deuteragonists, as well as the playable characters in Space Channel 5 VR: Kinda Funky News Flash!.
Roo is the older sister and Kie is the younger brother. Although some early promotions address the space twins as "twin sisters," Grounding Inc. confirmed that these were translation errors and that the game is correct when addressing Kie as "the younger brother."[1]

Roo has light blue hair, blue eyes and fair skin. She wears a light blue outfit with pink stripes, purple gloves, a pink jetpack, a light purple belt with the Channel 5 logo on it, purple shorts, and light purple boots with some white stripes.
Kie has light purple hair, blue eyes and fair skin. He wears a lavender outfit with blue stripes, lavender gloves, a lavender jetpack, a lavender belt with the Channel 5 logo on it, light blue shorts, and light blue boots with some white stripes.

Space Channel 5 VR: Kinda Funky News Flash![]
Roo and Kie are the two playable characters available in the game. The player will see the world through the selected twin's perspective and control their movements. Both twins are completely silent and never show any reaction to anything. The obvious reason is because they are suppose to be the player.
Report 00
First appearing at the level's tutorial, the twins will be greeted by Mr. Gentle and are transported to a room where they meet Ulala, who will teach the game's mechanics. After some instructions, the tutorial is interrupted because Ulala receives a message saying aliens have invaded a Spaceport and are forcing people to dance. Ulala tells the twins to go with her and both are transferred to Spaceport 9, ending the tutorial.
Report 1: Morolians Strike Back!
The twins assist Ulala on saving the hostages and defeating the Morolians in both the first report.
Report 2: A Chorus in White!
The twins assist Ulala with defeating the Othermoros.
Report 3: The Pirates Showdown
During the third report, they assists Ulala on shooting the meteorites then dancing against the Jaguars. After defeating Kell, Bello and Soon-soon, Glitter's spaceship abducts the Jaguars and later Ulala. However, before getting abducted, Ulala gives the twins her microphone.
Report 4: The Final Report
The Twins will find themselves inside the ship, where Ulala, The Jaguars, Pudding, Tachibana and 88MAN are being kept as hostages above of Glitter above them. When suddenly, the main antagonist Glitter will appear after consuming the Groove Moxie of all the reporters. The selected twin fights Glitter by themselves, with Mr. Gentle and eventually, the Jaguars saying the moves they do and assisting them with the singing parts.
Eventually, Jaguar will appear to assist the Twins and together, they will save Ulala and the other hostages. Once they are all reunited, the heroes fight Glitter one last time in a dance battle. After defeating the space organism, all of the heroes will unite their Groove Moxie to make one force capable of defeating Glitter once and for all, and they'll let the twins release it. Once Glitter is gone, the heroes will celebrate by dancing and the player will be able to dance with them by controlling the selected twin.

Trivia[]
- Roo and Kie are the second twins to be main characters in the series. The first being Pine and Texas.
- Roo and Kie are two of the six main characters who were never captured by an antagonist, the other four are Noize, Pine, Padding and Texas.
- Roo, Kie and Jaguar were the only three main characters who didn't have their Groove Moxie taken by Glitter.
- Roo and Kie turn icon is the only turn icon that doesn't have the name of its respective character. Instead, their turn icon has the word "You" in it.
- Though difficult to see due to their hair, Roo and Kie have pink eyebrows.
- In the original trailer for Space Channel 5 VR, Kie had a different design. His hair, sans the braids, was the same color as his sister's and his gloves were white.
- Although they are completely silent, Roo and Kie are credited as being "voiced by the player" in the game's credits.
- Their names are wordplay to the word, "rookie".
