~ Pine, Space Channel 5: Part 2. |
Pine is a major character in the Space Channel 5 series, first appearing in Space Channel 5: Part 2. Pine is the chief of the Eastern Sector Space Police who appears to dislike other reporters and is usually seen with her two back ups, the space cops and detectives Sexy 1 and 2 (real names: Mimi and Lily respectively). In an attempt to help investigate the ransom for President Peace who was kidnapped by the Rhythm Rogues, Pine encounters Ulala, and eventually reveals herself to her and begin in an instrumental battle.
Pine later returns to help the group of reporters in an attempt to stop Purge and save President Peace.
Character Info[]
Space Police Chief Pine is a cowgirl dedicated to maintaining order across space. With her assistants Sexy 1 and Sexy 2, she can dish out justice on her drums.
Pine is a special investigator at the dedicated Police Unit of the same organization of the Space Rescue Police that serves as both Fire and Police department for the entire galaxy.
She was born on June 5 and is 27 years old as of Space Channel 5: Part 2.[2] Her blood type is A. Her hobbies include swimming, reading, and horse riding.[3] She has an identical, younger twin sister named Texas, another member of the Space Police. They also live together due to Pine's awkwardness around men.[2] Her favorite food is space kolo made from space kita akari potatoes, a dish similar to space croquettes. [2]
Appearance[]
Pine has white skin, but her complexion is warmer and darker than Ulala's. She stands slightly taller than Ulala as well. She has dark blue hair that extends beyond her shoulders, and amber colored eyes.
Like the rest of the Space Police (the known characters, at least), Pine's outfit consists of the colors white, black, and hot pink. She wears a sleeveless top that exposes her midriff, and is white with a hot pink stripe around the neck and down the front. Accented with a black belt, her form-fitting, hot pink pants connect directly to her platform boots, these boots having black soles with a white stripe.
Pine wears elbow-length white gloves, but the left is longer, lined with hot pink that ends in a point. Her cowboy hat is white, lined with pink, and brandishes the Space Police logo, a blue and white six-point star.
Lastly, like many characters, Pine wears a set of propulsion canisters; hers attach to her belt and and are white. Her badge is white and pink and can be conveniently attached to her belt, on her right hip. Her guns are identical in design to Ulala's, except that they are red instead of blue.
Personality[]
Pine has a strong sense of justice and isn’t afraid to stand herself up close and personal with those who break the law. Using everything in the arsenal of her ship, she won’t hesitate to do what’s right and keep civilians safe. If someone who might be a disruption to an important investigation refuses to stand down, even if that someone is a civilian such as Ulala, Pine will do what’s necessary to prevent said investigation from being compromised.
Although Pine puts on a tough front, according to her sister, Texas, she is "surprisingly soft." Texas elaborates that she tends to show her merciful side to even those disrupting the law, being more likely to convince other to follow the law rather than enforcing it with brute strength. The fact that she asks for Ulala’s help instead of arresting the reporter for the stunt pulled in Report 3 should say something about her heart.
History[]
Space Channel 5: Part 2[]
Report 2: Nature’s Revenge!
Pine is first seen in the cutscene prior Report 2, when President Peace visits Space Park. She can be seen in the background along with four SRP Troopers.
Report 3: Meet the Sexy Space Police!
“You should’ve heeded the warning.”
Pine and her backup crew are first met when Ulala and a horde of other reporters are arriving at Point Double X where she orders them to leave the investigation to her. All of the reporters except Ulala, Noize and Fuse, obey her. With the Channel 5 trio refusing to listen to her, she attacks them, first with her Space Police Vessel, the Playgirl, which opens fire at the resisting members of the press. It begins dropping bombs, firing missiles, and shooting laser beams at Ulala and the Astrobeat in an attempt to drive them away and stop them from disrupting the investigation.
When it becomes clear that Channel 5 will not be deterred, Pine, along with Sexy 1 and Sexy 2 come up on deck, introduces herself with a song, then starts a drum battle with Ulala and her co-worker Noize. Depending on how well Ulala and Noize play, Pine has differing reactions.
With the Space Police defeated, all three women retreat then fire a large missile at Ulala who takes it out in three chus.
Report 4: The End for Space Channel 5?!
At the end of Report 4, Pine sends a message out to Ulala that she needs help. What she exactly says depends on what the ratings are at the end of the report. Her expectations will be lowered the worse Ulala performed.
Report 5: The Spies Get Revenge!
Pine meets Ulala and her friends at the rendezvous in Purge’s Mystery Zone space station. She helps lead them towards Purge and President Peace when an alarm goes off in the base, a segment starts where Pine and the rest of the heroes must escape from the Mystery Zone's traps by copying the robots moves, after that a second segment of the trap happens when everyone must stick together and shoot the Dark Rhythm Robots, Pine covers the left quarter of the screen.
After the intermission, Ulala’s team must take on The Shadows, a group of four BuffBots and Shadow, in a Battle of the Bands. Pine, of course, plays the drums for their side.
Report 6: Purge’s TV Special!
“This is the end of the line!”
Pine walks along with Ulala and the rest of the team from the previous report as they confront Purge and his Rhythm Robots. She and the others are eventually held back by an invisible wall and cannot join Ulala as she faces off against Dancing Purge. Pine is first to appear again after the intermission, urging Ulala to not give up against Purge the Great. She is seen dancing with many others alongside Ulala in the finale.
When Dance Dimension X is broken, Pine says “I’m going to heal that sick mind of yours!" and assists Ulala in the last three shots against Purge.
Extra Mode
In Extra Mode, Pine is replaced by her identical twin sister, Texas. Texas's role in the story is identical to Pine's. Unlike her sister, she is accompanied by two Morolians as Sexy 1 and Sexy 2. She also sings a different theme song when she first appears.
Oddly, Texas is still occasionally referred to as Pine in the game's script. At the end of the Report 4, when Texas sends a message to Ulala, she says, "This is Pine," instead of, "This is Texas." At the beginning of the Report 5, Padding says, "We heard it through Pine's broadcast," instead of "We heard it through Texas's broadcast."
Costume and Item
There is a Pine costume which is unlocked by cleaning Report 3 with the rating at 100%. After clearing Report 6, if the player checks Pine's in-game profile, Pine will gift the player with a Green Onion item, which Ulala will be able to replace her microphone with.
Other Appearances[]
Scrapped Appearances[]
- Space Channel 5 VR: Kinda Funky News Flash!: Curiously, in early footage of Space Channel 5 VR: Kinda Funky News Flash! from 2016, Ulala can find Pine being forced to dance by the Morolians alongside Pudding in the Spaceport 9. However, this never happens in the final version of the game. In fact, Pine is completely absent in the final version of the game.[4]
