Trivia[]

  • The word "Tapioca" is the name of a Brazilian dish where the main ingredient is manioc and the most popular filling is coconut. In Brazilian Portuguese, "Coco" means "coconut", hence the name.
    • Despite being written with Portuguese words, Coco★Tapioca's name follows English grammatical rules. If it were to follow Portuguese grammatical rules, Coco★Tapioca would be called "Tapioca de coco".

    Coco★Tapioca production sketch.

Early concept arts reveal that Coco★Tapioca was originally going to be piloted by three Morolians and it would be possible to see them inside Coco★Tapioca's eyes.
    • It is possible that these pilot Morolians almost made into the game, as there are two unused textures named "eye_moro1" and "eye_moro2" in the game files.[2]
  • Coco★Tapioca's Japanese profile reveals that the official name of the line-dancing robots is "Yellow Submoron". The name is probably a reference to The Beatles' song, "Yellow Submarine".
  • Coco★Tapioca has worked for all three main antagonists, working for Blank in the first game, Glitter in the VR game and for the Rhythm Rogues in Project X Zone 2.
  • Coco★Tapioca's battle theme is "Coco★Tapioca: The Huge Dancer".
  • In Space Channel 5 VR, the three yellow Morolians assisting Coco★Tapioca are most likely a reference to the Yellow Submorons, the dancing creatures that assisted it in the first game.
  • Coco★Tapioca is the first and currently only boss to be fought in more than one Space Channel 5 game.
    • Coco★Tapioca is also the only boss who appeared in every game. That is, if counting the reference to it in Space Channel 5: Part 2 (the Tapi-Maru spaceship) as an appearance.
  • Strangely, Coco★Tapioca's mouth is completely visible while closed in its in-game profile portrait, despite that not being the case in any of its models.
  • Coco★Tapioca's legs are extremely long and lined with ring beams during the intro to its battle, but only while it was attached to the ship. It has never been seen with its legs extended.
